Saff held a tissue to the deep scratch on her arm as she struggled over the piles of rubble. Well, that would teach her to look where she was going, incase there were more bits of broken metal sticking out anywhere. She checked the cut, watching as the blood quickly swelled and broke through her skin again, crimson beads running down her pale skin. She sighed slightly and re-applied the tissue, pressing it down hard to try and stop the bleeding. The frayed ends of her bagy jeans caught on a stone and she tripped up slightly, swearing quietly as she steadied herself and jerked free.

A small gust of wind stirred up the ashes on the floor and whirled them round slightly. Ashes of dead people, killed by the Aalah Kimune. A charred piece of paper rolled over her shoe and she bent to pick it up. Dark eyes scanned the words, a letter from the girlfriend of a soldier who had evidently died in battle here. She suspected it was a human soldier, seein as it was english. But then again, maybe the AK spoke english too. She sighed, she didn't really know anything about these other beings, and yet she was training to be in a war with them. To kill them.

She frowned slightly and muttered sternly to herself, stopping and drawing herself up, eyes shut as she remembered why she was here. To fight, to die. Fight for honour, fight for your life.
The letter was still held loosely in her hand, and her fingers tensed as though about to crumple it up, but she didn't. Almost guiltily, she folded it in half and slipped it into the pocked of her black Ramones hoodie, her hand pulling up the hood and she continued along, kohl-rimmed eyes glacing around at the desolation left behind by the Aalah.

She bit her lip, annoyed at herself. She should throw the letter away, it wasn't for her to read. But maybe she could kid herself it was from him and-

No, that was enough. She pulled out the letter and ripped it into tiny bits, opening her hand up to have the breeze float them away. She watched as the pieces dissappeared, before digging her hands deep into her pockets and moving along. As she felt a drop of water run down her face and glanced up at the sky to see when it had started raining. Not a cloud in the sky. She put a finger up to her face - tears?

Sophie walked through the Northern grounds, a horse now, a beautiful black. As a horse, she was quick and strong...not that she wasn't as a human, or anything else. Sophie dropped her head, snorting lightly, the putrid smell of smoke and the black pollution burning her eyes. She let the tears fall lightly...it was only from the smoke, it held no emotion. But the salty drops quickly halted as a figure in the distance moved. Sophie's heart stopped...she had not expected anyone to be out here. It was cold and the rain looked like it might begin to fall soon, and it wasn't a good idea to be hanging around on a plain in a thunderstorm.

Sophie strained her horse eyes forward, trying to descipher who the figure might be. It was a small physique, and had a lot of hair. It was definitely a girl...suddenly, Sophie knew who it was. Saffron. She thought the name with a slight bit of disgust...Saffron wasn't very nice. She carried a dagger around in her sock and attacked people who approached her with a friendly hello. Sophie heard this from Charles one time, she could not remember when...perhaps in his mind as a wolf. Now, as a horse, Saffron's cosmic vibrations fell into place onto her, and Sophie felt the sadness and grief. She felt the confusion and the huge amount of emotions the girl was trying to hide. Felt the fire in Saff that was trying to fight the world. It seems that she's determined to stay tearless, to make everyone think she's made of steel, Sophie figured, flicking her ears back and forth. She backed away from Saffron, slowly, trying to hide that she was there. She made not a sound, her hooves clicking gently on the soft sod.

She backed up even further, head whirling, mind gears working furiously, trying to get away from Saffron. Her emotions were strong, and Sophie could feel them as if they were her own. She changed back into a human, breathing hard, and turned on her heel, tripping over some roots. She fell, tearing her knee open, and jumped back up, running, running...into the distance. The first raindrop fell, on Sophie's face, and then the rest poured down, soaking her hair and clothes and the rest of her. She breathed hard, not slowing down at all, just trying to get away. Thunder boomed and lightning flashed...kept on going. Go, go...go.

Well, she felt like screaming. An angry shake of the head, harsh words to herself, and the tears dried up, as always. Her foot lashed out and connected with a small rock, sending it spinning away over the dusty earth, now churned up by the falling rain. Quickly enough, Saff's hair was soaked and bedraggled, her clothes clinging to her frame, as the rain coursed over her pale face, leaving dirty tracks behind.

Through the driving rain, her eyes searched for something, anything to distract her. The flashing lightning illuminated a running figure, and Saff bit her lip, hesitating. Finally she decided and turned, jumping onto a pile of rubble and scrambling over the remains of what used to be a house until she stood on the top - the land stretching out before her. Waiting for another flash to light up the figure, she leant forwards, eyes narrowed, and as the light came she recognised the form. Sophie, running away. Judging from the ground she had covered, she had been somewhere near Saff. And as she had been walking in the open, cursing and muttering to herself, Saff would hardly be hard to miss. So Sophie was running away from her? It seemed like it.

Sophie kept going for a few more minutes, but finally stopped, wheezing, and dropped to the ground, her knee burning, face freezing. A tear, black as coal, dropped down her cheek, and she touched a hand to her knee, it coming off sticky with blood. Sophie wiped away her tears, leaving the black streaks running across her face, and also wiped away the blood on her knee. She stood up, calming her beating heart, and turned back to the Northern grounds, taking a deep breath. What was she doing, running away from Saffron? She didn't have to...now that she was a human again, she saw that she was just another girl, just someone with emotion. Everyone had it...God, horses didn't have it so good, did they?

Sophie began walking, slowly, toward the place where Saff had been crying, her own eyes filling with the blackened tears, the drops running down her cheeks more and more, blending with the rain that was pouring from the heavens, raining from the Gods, splashing all over. Sophie slipped, more and more often as she got deeper and deeper into the Northern areas. Sophie finally reached the general area and saw Saffron up ahead. She was standing now, body rigid, and looking at her. Sophie took a deep breath and kept walking, reaching Saff shortly.
"Hello," Sophie whispered to the other girl, sitting down on the wet ground in the rain. After the brief greeting, she said not a word, looking not up at the other. She sat there, unmoving, her heart pounding, wondering if Saffron was going to spear her with that dagger in her sock.

Were all the people here this strange? or was she the strange one. Had she become so alienated, so disconnected, that she no longer knew how to act? She watched as Sophie returned, her gaze cold, like glinting flints.
As the other girl spoke, she held back the cutting remark that was perched on the tip of her tongue, swalliowng it back down. Things had changed now, Saff needed to learn that. But it was hard. Because it didn't feel like anything had changed. It all still felt the same.

She was wiped out, tired, shattered, whatever you want to call it. A late night, sitting at the bar. Strange, how you could spend 5 straight hours drinking a single bacardi breezer. Still, rules of etiquette demanded that she reply, despite her closed-in face and tired vocals
